It is
possible that you may feel some negative physical effects when you first start
taking coconut oil regularly. There are two possible reasons for this—either
you are having an allergic response or a detoxifying response.
If you
are allergic to coconut oil, you may experience a cough, a rash, hives, or
swelling in your face, eyelids, throat, tongue, and eyes. If you experience any
of these symptoms, stop taking coconut oil until you can establish exactly what
has caused the allergic reaction. Seek medical attention immediately if these
symptoms appear suddenly or severely.
However,
other symptoms may simply be your body's reaction to the detoxifying effects of
coconut oil. Since coconut oil works as an antiviral and anti fungal agent, you
may feel feverish and/or flu-like symptoms after taking it for a few days. You
may also experience some nausea, gas, and/or soft stools. These symptoms are
caused by the release of toxins into your blood stream in response to the
cleansing power of coconut oil. Drink plenty of water to help flush out the
toxins and cut down on your dose of coconut oil if you experience vomiting or
diarrhea.
If the
symptoms are mild, try lowering the dose or incorporating the coconut oil into
food rather than eating it undiluted.
In
time, these symptoms will subside and you will start to feel the amazing
effects of this wonderful oil!
