Hair Care Tips

Heat olive oil and apply on the scalp with cotton wool. Rub gently to dislodge the flakes. Then dip a towel in hot water, squeeze out the water and wrap the towel around the head, like a turban. Keep it on for 5 minutes. Repeat the hot towel wrap 3 or 4 times. This helps the hair and scalp absorb the oil better. Leave the oil on overnight. The next morning, apply the juice of a lemon on the scalp and wash the hair after half an hour. This can be done once or twice a week. The hair should be washed at least three times a week, using less shampoo and rinsing well with water. Use a mild herbal shampoo. Half an hour before shampoo, apply two tablespoons vinegar on the scalp and massage it lightly into the scalp. After shampoo, add two tablespoons of the vinegar to a mug of water and use as a last rinse. For dandruff, add 5 drops of Rosemary essential oil to 50 ml rose water. Shake well and keep in a glass bottle with a tight fitting lid. Apply this on the scalp after shampoo, using cotton wool and leave it on. Essential oils should never be used by themselves.

Lower your stress

Studies have shown that stress has lots of negative effects on the body. Regular exercise is a great way to relieve your stress. This will also boost your circulatory and respiratory systems . Also, this will help deliver those nutrients to your scalp, where your locks are busy growing. Getting a weekly scalp massage is also a great way to reduce your stress and also stimulate hair growth.

Stress Related Acne

Is your lifestyle causing your acne? Certainly not. But the way you live affects your whole body, including its largest organ: the skin. The place you work, the hours you keep, the ways you play — all of  these can take a toll on the epidermis, especially in those who are prone to acne. Following are a few  everyday acne triggers you might not be aware of, and a few things you can do to avoid them.

Comedones on the job. Since some part of your skin is always in contact with your environment, it’s  important to pay attention to the substances with which you come into contact on a regular basis. You may be exposing yourself to comedogenic (pore-clogging) substances on the job without even knowing it; while these substances are not the cause of your acne, they can aggravate it. For example: the airborne grease in a fast-food restaurant can create an invisible film on your skin, clogging your pores.   Most industrial oils — the kinds used in cars, in factories, on bicycles — are comedogenic as well.

Acne & Sleep - Sleep and your skin. The simplest good deed you can do for your skin may surprise you:   Sleep! Scientists and mothers around the world agree that a good night’s sleep — at least eight hours —  can do wonders for your complexion. How? A healthy, well-rested body has the resources to build a strong immune system. While a robust immune system won’t prevent acne altogether, it can help fight infection so your lesions clear up more quickly. Luckily, your body isn’t picky; uninterrupted sleep in the daytime is just as beneficial. So if you work late, sleep late — and try to maintain a regular schedule.

Acne & Sun - Savvy sun worshipping. While it’s true that small amounts of sun exposure may initially  improve acne, don’t be fooled; the benefit is temporary. Consistent sun bathing will dry your skin, causing your sebaceous glands to produce more oil. Also, skin that has been exposed to the sun has to slough old cells more frequently; when you combine the extra oil and extra dead cells, you create the ideal environment for Comedones, or blocked pores. So if you work (or play) in the sun, it’s important to protect your skin with sunscreen. Look for oil-free products that provide at least an SPF 15 protection level from UVA and UVB rays.

Acne & Stress - The stress connection. Not surprisingly, stress often has a starring role in the ongoing acne drama. “Ninety percent of my patients complain about what stress does to their skin. It has a huge impact, and it’s becoming a bigger problem every day,” says Katie Rodan, MD, a clinical professor of dermatology at Stanford University. How can stress — emotional anxiety caused by any number of factors in your life — show up on your face? The connection is purely chemical. When you become tense, your adrenal glands go work,  flooding your bloodstream with the hormone cortisol. This triggers the sweat glands in your face to produce more oil. When your sebaceous glands go into high gear, there’s a higher probability that this excess oil will mix with dead skin cells and clog your pores, trapping bacteria inside. The result? More acne, primarily inflamed papules rather than blackheads or whiteheads.

12
What can you do? Of course, you can't eliminate stress from your life — it's part of being human. But  you can minimize its damage by leading a healthy lifestyle. A balanced diet and at least seven hours of sleep every night will help you build a stronger physical foundation; if you're well fed and well rested, you're less likely to feel irritated by the events of your day. Try to get some exercise every day, even if it's just a walk around the block at lunchtime. It's also important to take time out of every day to relax — read a book, take a bath, practice yoga, or do whatever makes you feel happy and calm. It's an important step towards overall good health, and therefore the health of your skin.

NAURAL LOOK WEARING MAKE UP

Mineral makeup looks like natural makeup for a healthier skin. Mineral makeup is  made of pure natural micronized pigments with freeze-dried vitamins A,D & E. It is  free of any oil, binders, talc and chemicals that can irritate sensitive skin. Mineral  makeup contains only pure mineral pigments in concentrated form. Mineral  makeup's purity means that it works well with most skin types and you will find that it adds a day-long youthful sheen to your skin. Natural mineral makeup and  natural powder blush is kind to your skin. Mineral cosmetics have their basis in ground-up minerals, including various metal ores and iron oxide. Mineral makeup  can be applied quickly and easily with a brush or sponge.

Modern mineral makeup represents a major advance not only in cosmetics but also  in skincare and your overall well-being. Mineral foundation powders also contain  zinc oxide and titanium dioxide that act as a reflective coating which blocks the  harmful effects of the sun. Since synthetic dyes, perfumes and preservatives are  avoided in the composition of mineral makeup, there is little risk of skin sensitivity to the ingredients, resulting in a considerably reduced risk of longer-term allergic  reactions. Essential oils are used in many natural skin care products. Rose oil is  used to hydrate dry skin . Lavender has a soothing affect. Oily skin can benefit from  rosemary, lemon and cedar oils. Natural skin care products use oil free moisturizing  ingredients such as glycerin.

Humectants are used to draw moisture into the skin and rehydrate dry skin. The  benefits to the skin outweigh the added expense. Using cosmetics made with heavy  oils and synthetic ingredients can undo the positive effects of your natural skin care  regimen. Grapefruit seed, rosemary extracts and aloe help heal blemishes and  soothe the skin. Use the best products your budget will allow to bring out the best  in your skin. Moisturizers help balance pH, and protect against the harmful UVA and  UVB sun rays. Moisturizers is also made a natural look Active Moisturizer is  formulated to treat oily to problem skin. It helps restore skin's moisture and keeps  it feeling comfortable all day. Hydrating Moisturizer is formulated to help keep the  skin feeling comfortable all day

Most Flattering Hair Style

Many people look to celebrities to find a new hair style---spending tons of money  on all kinds of magazines only to frantically tear through the pages in search of the perfect hair style. The oval face is the most versatile face. People with an oval face shape can wear most hair cut styles and lengths with it still looking "right". The oval face is mathematically 1.5 times as long as its width, with the forehead slightly  wider than the jaw. Oval face shape super hot now: Choppy bobs, long waves & shoulder-skimming shags. Round faces are characterized by a round chin. Because  they lack the length of the oval face, the hair should be cut to create the illusion of  length in the face. Bangs are flattering, but keep them long or sideswept.
Heart shaped faces are widest at the temples and narrowest at the jawline. Keep  top layers soft and long. Square faces have a square jawline and hairline at the forehead. They are 'too short', so a suitable hair cut style seeks to create height  elongating the face. Diamond shaped faces are widest at the cheekbones and  narrow in the forehead and chin. By creating width at the forehead and minimizing  it at the cheekbones, the illusion of an oval face can be achieved. Pear shaped faces  have a narrow forehead and are widest at the jawline, with a round chin. The  objective of a suitable style of hair cut is to give the illusion of an oval face by  creating width at the forehead and temples. The oblong face is generally described as having a high forehead, narrow bone structure and long, well defined chin.

If your face is oblong, then the goal is to balance out the length of the face to make  it look more proportioned. Rectangular faces have a square chin and hairline, and are long and narrow. The ideal style of hair cut is one which creates width at the  sides disguising the narrowness. A fringe can also shorten the face, and a style with  a side part will help to reduce the square appearance. Diamond face shape is a cross between heart and oval. If you are a true diamond, you'll be able to wear  almost any style. Try hairstyles with lots of fringes, chaotic yet sexy and defined  curls, chin-length bobs and shoulder length cuts with feathered edges. If you need  to add fullness in order balance out your shape, going with thick layers or a bob of  medium length, making sure the fullness lands where it is most needed, is your
best bet.

MAKEUP APPLICATIONS AND USES

Applying make-up should not be difficult. Mineral Makeup forms a protective barrier  on your skin while still allowing your skin to breath. Mineral Make up gives a  lightweight natural feel that allows your skin to breathe, unlike talc-based products  that can clog pores and damage skin. If you apply makeup eye shadow use a small brush or sponge applicator to apply shadow over your eye lids, or in the creases, for contouring effect. Apply more than one color if desired. Cover whole lid from  lash line to eyebrow, then add another color to lid (lighter color), then one in the crease of the eye lid first using color as a highlight on brow bone blend color just  where the meet. Mix matte and shimmer color together. Apply wet for a more  dramatic effect or use as eyeliner.

Finishing powders are applied as you would a foundation. Using your blush brush  simply swirl and tap in your lid and apply to cheeks. If you apply eyeliner a small angle brush works best for this. Eyeshadows may also be used as eyeliners. Apply the foundation with your fingers or a o-tip in dots in areas of your face. With a  cosmetic sponge, spread the foundation until it is well-blended into the skin. Use a  lip pencil to outline the lips and make them stand out. The next step will be to apply lipstick with a lip brush. A lip brush makes the lipstick look professionally  applied. Mix the minerals in with your favorite lip gloss shade to change the color or with a clear gloss to add a boost of color and shimmer. You can apply the minerals to your lips first.

Smile, take a blush brush and apply a shade of blush to your cheeks. After this  part, sweep the brush back into the hairline. Using your blush brush simply swirl and tap in your lid and apply to cheeks. You can also use to contour different parts of the face such as jaw line, parts of brow, nose, ect. You can apply more than one coats if you desire more color intensity. Finishing powders are applied as you would  a foundation. You may use heavier coats to oily areas. Tap some powder in your lid, swirl and tap your brush, and apply lightly to forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. The  dazzling colors of our blushes are a perfect complement to your cheekbones. Use a
soft, fluffy brush and knock off any excess powder.

Make up Application Tips

•  Do not apply white or black shadows to your eyes.
•  To apply blush, use a round tip blush brush and place it on the apple of the
cheek.
•  Apply a light color all over the lid. Use a darker shade for your upper, outer
lid.

•  Applying foundation on lids under eye shadow is not recommended.
•  Apply lip liner to completely cover the lips, add color and your lipstick will
stay on much longer.
•  Wear makeup that is appropriate for the occasion.
•  Keep makeup looking fresh all day by doing regular touch ups.
•  Powder blush is best for oily and combo skin.
•  To keep your lip color from fading.
•  Keep makeup looking fresh all day by doing regular touch ups.

peace starts within

The art of being at peace lies in connecting with yourself and this art can be facilitated if your surroundings are conducive

When was the last time you realised that you were looking for peace? If you think about it, probably it was just a few moments ago or, at the most, a few days ago. Consciously or unconsciously, all of us are looking for peace and at times try to understand the spiritual side of ourselves. While some of you seemingly look happy and content with your spiritual consciousness, many are only left wondering how to attain peace and awaken our spiritual self.

Interestingly, you do not have to look far and do not have to travel any distance to attain the state of peace. Peace starts within each one of us. When we have inner peace, we can be at peace with those around us. No element can interfere with the peace that lives within you, unless you allow it to do so. The art of being at peace lies in connecting with yourself and this art can be facilitated if your surroundings and the environment are conducive.

The quality and domain of this connectivity is governed by your space — the place where you live. Every activity, colours, shapes and objects in your home create a particular effect in your inner mind (subconscious mind) which decides where your consciousness is connected.

Anything that connects you with your own self, anything that takes you to a state of enlightenment has a potential to stimulate your spiritual side. It can be a painting, a sculpture, a place, or even a person.

Therefore, since ancient times, symbols and artefacts were used in buildings to facilitate connectivity with higher self. Even in MahaVaastu, a painting or sculpture of Lord Buddha in Northeast Vaastu zone of
your home is advised to improve this connectivity.

There are some buildings across the globe wherein just by entering those buildings you feel enlightened and connected with your higher self. Most of these buildings are temples. Even today, you can find many ancient temples that are famous for wish fulfillment. The secret of wish fulfilment is that the space inside the temple makes you connected with your deeper self and in that state of your inner mind whatever you visualise and desire gets manifested in the material world.

By placing certain symbols and artefacts in your home, your subconscious mind can be programmed to attract specific results and situations in your life. Your subconscious mind is continuously picking up information from your immediate environment and is accord-

ingly getting programmed. The moment you clean the Northeast zone of anti-colours like red, orange, pink, yellow (which are not supposed to be in this zone of building as per MahaVaastu) and anti-activities/elements like the kitchen, storeroom, waste articles (activities that are not recommended to take place in this zone), and place a pyramid there as per the Amplifier Technique of MahaVaastu, not only does the space inside your building start behaving positively, but your subconscious mind also starts picking up clarity and positive information that can help you attain a superior level of consciousness. You get connected with your own higher self. That becomes a medium for extending the right guidance to you.

You start gaining clarity at the level of the conscious mind that not only gives you the inner pleasure and sense of achievement, but also helps you move ahead in life, spiritually and otherwise.

Make Your Skin Glow and Smooth

Tips to make your skin glow and smooth

A healthy life style and skin care routine reflects your skin. You should keep your skin clean to avoid problems such as pimples and blackheads. Beautiful soft, smooth and glowing doesn’t come with expensive products or salon treatments. It only requires a little effort and few products.

Follow these simple tips to make you skin glow and smooth.

Cleanse & Exfoliate :

Wash your face twice a day with a soap free cleanser. It is important to remove oil and dirt from your skin to make it smooth and glow. Also, remove make up before going to bed. If you sleep with the make up on, your skin is more likely to breakout and become dull. Most of us are too lazy or sleepy to use a make up remover before bed and then wash the face. Face wipes is the easiest way to cleanse your skin. That means you don’t have to use a make up remover if you use wipes. If washing your face is over drying the skin, you may use gram flour mixed with water. It is also very important to regularly exfoliate your skin. It helps to remove dead cells accumulated on skin.

Steam :

steaming face to get smooth skin and glow
Steaming opens up skin pores and removes impurities deep down the pores, making your face soft and smooth. Blackheads are formed by clogging of pores, so steaming helps to soften pores, making it easier to pop them. It also boosts blood circulation which reproduce healthy skin cells. It could be easily done at home. Simply boil a pot of water, you may add herbs such as thyme or rosemary. You can also add mint leaves, rose petals or lemon for a delicious smell and soothing feel to skin. Remove the pot from heat. Keep a towel on your head and lower your face on the steam. The towel will avoid steam from escaping. Make sure your face is not close to the water, if its too hot it might cause broken veins. Steaming once a week is enough to keep your pores clean.

Cucumber & Milk Cleanser:

Cucumber has a cooling effect on skin. Its cleansing properties make your skin soft, smooth and tightens pores. It also restores natural pH of the skin. There are many ways to use cucumber on skin. You can place cucumber slices on your face to have a refreshing and soothing feel. Cucumber juice, when applied tightens your skin. You can apply it with a cotton ball or mix it with milk to make a skin cleansing mask. Milk contains natural lipids that moisturize skin deeply. Mix cucumber juice in milk and apply it to your face. Leave it on for 15 minutes then rinse to get glowing skin.

Honey,Lemon and Olive Oil:

Honey is anti-inflammatory and a great skin cleanser. Honey also fights skin damage and has antioxidants that reduce signs of ageing. Lemon is rich in vitamin C and nutrients that helps skin problems. It lightens the skin, reduce dark spots and gives glow. The other ingredient of this mask is olive oil which has been used by women in ancient times for beautiful skin. It gives your skin radiant glow and maintains elasticity. Mix equal parts of honey, lemon and olive oil. Use a cotton ball to apply it to your skin. Wash after 20 minutes with luke warm water. This could be used overnight then rinse in the morning.

Yogurt :

Yogurt has been used by Greeks for skin care. It is rich in proteins, lactic acid and enzymes which sooth and cleanse the skin making it soft and smooth. Combine it with lemon and honey to make a moisturizing and exfoliating mask. You can simply massage your face with a tbsp of yogurt to cleanse. The enzymes in it are going to remove dead skin and help in production of new cells. Your skin will feel smooth and glowing.

Exercise for weight loss: Calories burned in 1 hour

Being active is an important part of any weight-loss or weight-maintenance program. When you're active, your body uses more energy (calories). And when you burn more calories than you consume, you lose weight. Because 3,500 calories equals about 1 pound (0.45 kilogram) of fat, you need to burn 3,500 calories more than you take in to lose 1 pound. So if you cut 500 calories from your diet each day, you'd lose about 1 pound a week (500 calories x 7 days = 3,500 calories). Because of changes that occur in the body over time, however, calories may need to be decreased further to continue weight loss.
While diet has a stronger effect on weight loss than physical activity does, physical activity, including exercise, has a stronger effect in preventing weight gain and maintaining weight loss.
For most healthy adults, the Department of Health and Human Services recommends these exercise guidelines:
  • Aerobic activity. Get at least 150 minutes a week of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes a week of vigorous aerobic activity. However, to effectively lose or maintain weight, some people may need up to 300 minutes a week of moderate physical activity. You also can do a combination of moderate and vigorous activity. The guidelines suggest that you spread out this exercise during the course of a week, and sessions of activity should be at least 10 minutes in duration.
  • Strength training. Do strength training exercises at least twice a week. No specific amount of time for each strength training session is included in the guidelines.
Moderate aerobic exercise includes such activities as brisk walking, swimming and mowing the lawn. Vigorous aerobic exercise includes such activities as running and aerobic dancing. Strength training can include use of weight machines, or activities such as rock climbing or heavy gardening.
As a general goal, aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day. This chart shows the estimated number of calories burned while doing various exercises for one hour. Specific calorie expenditures vary widely depending on the exercise, intensity level and your individual situation.
